Two things about Martin Short’s appearances on David Letterman:
1) Every time he enters, he enters to the music “It’s now or never”, and 2)he punctuates it with a grateful “Thanks for remembering”.
Part 2 of his appearance was inappropriate so I won’t post it…come on Marty clean it up!

When I first saw Martin Short play Jackie Rogers Jr, I was taken back. The guy was so weird. But his weirdness grew on me and he became one of my favorite of Short’s characters. I remember being at a girlfriends house watching the Showtime special Martin put on (1985 or 86). At any rate, her father walked passed and saw the Jackie Rogers Jr. character and instructed us to turn off the tv! 
Yes, he’s strange. But Jackie, we hardly knew ye!
